End of 2016 season!

Well its that time of year again when we close up for the winter, we saw our lasts guests away on Saturday (29th Oct) and we won’t be welcoming new ones until Sat.1st April 2017.  A long “closed” period for us this year, as we won’t be opening at Christmas & New Year or the February school holidays.  We decided to have our Christmas to ourselves this year and go and visit family etc.  We can winterise the chalets, turn the water off, do deep cleaning, any maintenance required, painting etc.

The chalets will be all fresh and shiny for the new season next year, so give us a call 01855 821272 or send us an email enquiries@glencoeselfcatering.co.uk for information on special offers or availability.  Check out our website Loch Leven Holidays http://www.glencoeselfcatering.co.uk

Its been a very busy year and the area has seen huge amounts of visitors, we think probably one of our busiest years since we took over in 2002.  We have seen a lot of Europeans (particularly German & Dutch) staying with us.  This may have something to do with the sterling dropping and the Europeans getting more for their money!

The area held the first Glencoe & Loch Leven Autumn Festival, which by all accounts has been very successful and hopefully there will be another next year.  The week finished on Sat.night with a Ceilidh held in the Leven Centre, sponsored by Loch Leven Seafood Cafe, with music from the Midgies Ceilidh band.  Everyone who went had a lot of fun.

The weeks activities included, guided walks, exhibitions including, Ballachulish Heritage Anniversaries Exhibition & Ballachulish Timeline, Prisoner of War Camp and Conscientious Objectors Internment Camp 100 Year Anniversary Exhibit and Holroyd Art Gallery Exhibition work by Catherine Putman and Jessica Crighton, tubing at Glencoe Mountain Resort, lots of local bands and entertainment including October Fest at the Clachaig Inn and even FULL Psychic Readings with June L Harrison at Caolasnacon.

The weather has been very mixed over the year, we had a gorgeous May & early June with lovely sunny days and warm weather, the Summer, unfortunately was quite dull & wet and the Autumn has been lovely with October being sunny & bright most days.  A couple of stunning photos taken last week by Martin Lijinsky, one of our guests.
