Activities

From Adrenaline pumping downhill mountain biking which can be experienced at the Anoch Mor ski centre just 7 miles from Fort William www.nevisrange.co.uk to a relaxing walk in the woods around Glencoe where there is an man made lake called the Lochan. The Glencoe Lochan (walking.visitscotland.com) was created by Lord Strathcona in the nineteenth century to help his Native American wife get over her longing for her home in Canada. It is an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or a more strenuous mountain walk.

Or if you would rather feel the sand beneath your toes you don’t need to go to the Caribbean, the Western Highlands has some of the most stunning beaches in the world. One of our favourites is Morar which lies on the “Road to the Isles” to Mallaig. Morar Sands also known as the “Silver Sands” was where the films Local Hero and Highlander were filmed boasts white sand and gorgeous blue sea , with Eigg and Rhum in the distance it is a fantastic place to spend a day. www.road-to-the-isles.org.uk/morar

If you don’t fancy driving up there we have the Jacobite Steam train (www.steamtrain.info) which takes you from Fort William to Mallaig, it is described as one of the greatest train journeys in the world. Travelling through some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland it takes you over the famous Harry Potter viaduct, the driver always stops the train so you can take plenty of pictures, this is great not just for the kids! Many of the scenes from Harry Potter were filmed in the Lochaber area, so an ideal place to create some of your own magic!!!!!

There is something for everyone in the local area, if all those activities sound too much like hard work you can just relax, eat and drink (yes there are taxis to take you and pick you up!!).
