Winter Activities
Before we start to tell you what’s happening here at Loch Leven Holidays, we would just like to send our thoughts to the families and friends of the 4 climbers killed on Saturday after the avalanche in Glencoe, also we wish the 5th person who is seriously ill in hospital a speedy recovery. Glencoe is a stunning part of the world particularly at this time of year with all the snow, but also a very dangerous one. If anyone is coming up climbing over the next few months please take lots of care.
This is Mam na Gualainn 796 m in Glencoe.
So what’s been happening on the site? We had a busy Christmas this year with lots of visitors coming from far and wide, one of our guests was all the way from Virginia. They enjoyed their Highland Christmas and their Edinburgh Hogmany! New year on the site was much quieter with very few chalets let out. We are not really sure why we were so quiet but think that many people just decided to stay at home this year and save some money. Many people feel next year could still be very tough.
Weather wise we had a very mild Christmas & New Year with a heavy dusting of snow on the tops.
So what’s new for 2013? we are currently putting a new bathroom in Salmon chalet with a new pump shower, this is a bit of an experiment to see how the water pressure is and how the water supply holds out. As many of you know the showers are less than powerful, so hopefully this may be a solution to the problem. Eventually over the next few years we will replace all the bathrooms but if the new shower is ok we will change these asap.
We have also been decorating the lodge throughout, we have updated the kitchen with some new appliances and a coat of paint, and all the units revarnished, the bathroom has also been painted and the king size room has got some new bed linen and soft furnishings. the living/dining room got a lick of paint also. The next to be done will be the interior of Tiranui Cottage!! Always plenty to do.
We still have availability for February half term if anyone is thinking of getting away and we are doing a special 4 night break for £250 chalet/£525 cottage. This is a great time to visit if you like skiing both Glencoe & Anoch Mor are great ski resorts to visit www.nevisrange.co.uk www.glencoemountain.com
If you are thinking about Easter a 4 night break is available for £275 for a chalet/£575 for the cottage.
