End of Season
Posted on 01st November, 2013
Who can believe its the beginning of November already??? Another season over! We close the site on Sat.2nd November until Sat.21st December 2013.
We have had a busy year, which is great! Like us, many businesses locally found it very tough last year but it looks as if things are finally improving.
The visitors have come from far and wide this year from America to Australia and plenty of our regulars from this country. It is so nice to see familiar faces and we thank everyone who has stayed with us over the year. This also goes for our family of Pine martens, who have delighted many of our visitors by visiting their chalets for their nightly treat of jam and bread!
We have done mostly maintenance this year, getting the grounds even more established with all the rockeries fully bedded in.
The regular chores of painting etc will be done when we close and hopefully we will get some dry days to do the exteriors of the chalets.
We hope to put new showers in all the chalets (like the one we have in Salmon), which should improve the water pressure.
This years shopping list includes some new bed linen and hopefully new sofas! We went all high tec this year and put I Pod docking stations in all the properties, so although you are coming to the rural Highlands of Scotland, we try to provide everything you will need to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
With only 53 days until Christmas, it will be upon us before we know it!! If you can’t bare the thought of it and would love to get away from it all why not hire a chalet in the beautiful surroundings of Loch Leven. We are doing a 4 day special break for £365 and you can choose your dates from Sat.21st to Sat.28th Dec.
or celebrate the New Year from 28th Dec to 4th Jan., 4 night special only £465.
You can enjoy the peace, quiet and stunning scenery from the comfort of the chalets which are warm and cosy. We decorate the chalets with a Christmas tree, so you don’t miss the festive spirit all together!! www.glencoeselfcatering.co.uk
The chalets sleep 4 so they are ideal for a couple, family or friends and if there are more than 4 we have our larger cottage which sleeps 8. This will cost £730 for the 4 day break, both prices include electricity, heating, bed linen and wi-fi access.
If you don’t fancy cooking your Christmas dinner, many of the local hotels are doing special festive menus, for example The Hollytree in Kentallen offers excellent food and stunning surroundings on the edge of Loch Linnhe http://www.hollytreehotel.co.uk There is also the Ballachulish Hotel which is only 10 mins away http://www.akkeronhotels.com/Hotels/Scottish-Highlands/The-Ballachulish-Hotel/Dining a grand building with stunning views of Loch Linnhe and Loch Leven.
The clachaig Inn in Glencoe is always a great night out no matter what time of year but over the festive season the atmosphere is great. There is lots of live music, local beers and good food, have a look at their site to see what’s on http://www.clachaig.com
There may be a good chance of seeing some snow, as usually at this time of year, the mountains around us have a covering and you may be lucky and get some skiing in at the Nevis Range ski resort just outside Fort William www.nevisrange.co.uk
Whatever you fancy doing this Christmas, wether it is a quiet getaway or a get together with friends Loch Leven Holidays accommodation is the place to stay!!!
